What are we supposed to do with grains?

That was the question posed to me this week by a classmate. A rather intelligent person, said classmate is a biology major looking at attending medical schools in a year or two. I dunno, is it me, or is it odd how people can be supposedly receiving an education essentially based upon the scientific method still allows such glaring assumptions to run things inside their own little heads? It worries me.
I'm looking at graduate education in anthropology, or applying to physician assistant school in the next year or so. I'm considering the PA route because the thought of four more years of medical indoctrination education, plus residency just does not seem appealing to me. I'd much rather be out treating people, and as a PA I can be back in my community in just a couple of years.
What I find so worrisome is that, as a PA, I will need to practice under a physician, and I'm not particularly thrilled with working under one who subscribes to the lipid hypothesis or who recommends hurthealthyholegrainz. Ah, well, I have a few more months to plant the seeds of doubt in some of my classmates...
